When is the gym quiet?

The most common question you hear from customers is this: “What time is the gym busiest?” 🧐

Now there is a proper answer. We went through the door openings of our own access control from 17 August to 15 October 2026, hour by hour and day by day, and updated the chart based on them. It shows when people usually come to the gym.

Hopefully you will find the moment that suits you.

Please note: the chart is based on autumn 2026 figures (door openings from 17 August to 15 October). It describes past door openings, not how busy the gym is right now. The chart helps you find times that are usually quieter.

23:00–5:00 Night: round-the-clock access with a one-time €8 upgrade. The gym is usually quiet at night. What does 24/7 cost?

School group session Tuesdays 8:00–9:30, Thursdays 10:00–11:30 and Fridays 8:00–9:30 (during school terms, not during school holidays). The gym is open to others too, but the free weights area may be busier than usual.

The chart helps you find times that are usually quieter. The chart is based on door openings between 17 August and 15 October 2026. It shows when people usually come to the gym. It is not a live visitor count. The levels compare the gym’s own hours with each other.

Your training times

Choose up to five times in the grid and see what they are usually like.

A dark square means quiet, a pale orange square means some visitors and a bright orange square is the busiest. And as you can see, there is plenty of dark: most hours of the gym’s week are usually quiet. Nostelema’s gym in Sastamala is about 500 m² on two floors, so there is usually enough space.

The busiest time is weekday afternoon into early evening. The brightest squares in the chart fall between 14:00 and 20:00. You can see the exact hours in the grid.

There is usually plenty of space early in the morning. From 5:00 to 8:00 the chart is almost all quiet. In the late morning, from 8:00 to 11:00, the chart already shows some visitors.

Lunchtime is the sweet spot. Around noon is clearly quieter than the evening, but the gym is not deserted. If you can move your workout to around lunch, you get the same gym with more room around you.

Saturday is the quietest day of the week. If you want to take a long workout in peace, it is a good choice.

New this school year: groups from Sylvää School

Elective-subject groups from Sylvää School will train at Nostelema in the 2026–2027 school year too. For us that is a big deal: a group of young people from Sastamala get their first taste of a gym here, guided and safe. Quite a few of them find out that lifting weights is actually good fun. A way of moving that you learn young carries a long way.

The groups’ sessions take place during school terms (not during school holidays), and they are marked on the chart with stripes:

    • Tuesdays 8:00–9:30
    • Thursdays 10:00–11:30
    • Fridays 8:00–9:30

At these times there is one guided group in the gym. The gym stays open to everyone then too, but if you are looking for peace and your own space in the free weights area, these are not the hours I would choose myself.

The good part: the groups’ sessions fall in the quieter half of the day. So the school groups fill hours that were already quiet, and they don’t take space from the evenings when most of you train.

From January 2027, a few more Thursday sessions will be added. We will tell you about them in good time, once the schedule is confirmed.

How to find a quiet time to train

    • Want more space? Early morning, 5:00–8:00, is usually quieter.
    • Is a weekday evening your only option? Try the evening after 21:00: on the chart it is usually quiet.
    • Do you have some flexibility in your day? The hours around noon are the gym’s best-kept secret.
    • Want to avoid the groups? Skip Tuesday and Friday mornings 8:00–9:30 and Thursday 10:00–11:30.
    • Remember 24/7. Access from 5:00 to 23:00 is included in membership. Round-the-clock access is a one-time €8 upgrade. At night the gym is usually quiet.

    One honest caveat

The chart is based on autumn 2026 figures (door openings from 17 August to 15 October). It tells you when people usually come to the gym, not how many people are in the gym right now. In other seasons the curve can look different. We don’t want to present the autumn figures as the truth for every season.

There can of course always be exceptions. But this at least lets you pick a time that suits you. Now you only have to choose whether you want to train alone or in a bigger group 😄

See you at the gym. 💪
